Slayton Arboretum on Hillsdale, MI College grounds is a wonderful place for photos, and is open to the public free. There are two stone gazebos, 2 or 3 man-made waterfalls, a reflection pond, stone benches, cement sculptured railings and bridges (like those at McCourtie Park at Somerset, MI). Spring through Fall they open the gate at dawn and close it at dusk. Parking is limited, on the street across from the park, or take your chances in the apartment parking lot across the street – I’ve never had any problems parking there, but I only park if several spots are
open.
